I ran out of my Shu Uemura cleanser so I went to get a new one. My previous cleanser was the pink one from the older range with the transparent packaging and oilier formulation. The one I bought (150ml, S$68) is from the newer range and has a new formulation. It’s the one in the yellow bottle and it’s meant for sensitive skin. My skin has been going on overdrive recently, most probably from the climate change (and not to mention pollution). I’m also using Differin, which is a topical lotion of adapalene (for acne) and it’s causing me some side effects like stinging sensations, redness of skin and etc.
I like Shu Uemura’s cleansers because they remove makeup completely. For example, the cleanser removes my Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils easily, which some makeup removers fail to do. The correct way of using this product is first to take 3 to 4 pumps of the oil and gently smooth it over your dry face. Then, wet your face to emulsify the oil. You’ll see that the oil turns white and that your makeup starts to come off. Finally, wash it off with water. I recommend first using warm or lukewarm water to open the pores for more thorough cleansing and then with cold water after cleansing to close the pores. If you’d like to use a facial foam after the cleanser, then use cold water only after the entire process of cleanser + foam.
