What does one do when one’s sick of staying bedridden due to a back injury? One leaves said bed and gets some air!
I hurt my back quite suddenly – and unexpectedly – and the doctor gave me some painkillers for it. But this was Day 3 of being on meds and staying at home all day, so I went out for a quick brunch with the sister at a Chinese restaurant in town. Because my back wasn’t all healed, I totted a clutch and kept things light.
I know how ironic it is to be presenting a back that looks quite fine but this ASOS top is a classic in its own right. It’s understated elegance – you show something off, but not quite. Nothing like Rihanna though. It’s made from woven poly fabric, which means it doesn’t crease easily, and you don’t have to do much ironing if you hang it up to dry on a hanger when you do your laundry. You also don’t have to worry about it trapping heat!
A top like this is best worn with hair kept neatly to one side. I’ve got a very uneven hairline, but nothing some hair spray and mousse can’t deal with. Light coloured jeans add some contrast – otherwise you’d look too dull – and black pumps complete the main ensemble. A neutral coloured clutch also helps with the contrast and doesn’t take the attention away from the top. Finally, accessorise with some bling to add some glamour to the overall look!
The Mimco studs were on sale, which is why I bought them. My heart-and-wing ring was a birthday present from my lovely siblings!
The restaurant we had brunch at was Taste Paradise, located in Ion Orchard. Here are some shots of the dim sum we had. You must try these!
A little bit about my makeup for the afternoon: My mascara’s from Heroine Make, and I’ve got on Butter London’s Hen Party and OPI’s Polka.Com on my nails. If you liked my outfit in this post, here’re some items I’ve picked out specially for you:
