We all know that many chemicals are harmful. That’s why many beauty companies are changing their manufacturing processes to cut down on these chemicals, either completely or by substantial amounts.
I was lucky enough to get to try the Bath & Shower Gel in Melon from newly launched Spanish brand, Naturalium. The brand was founded in 2014 and only made its way to our humble shores this year. All of their products are made with no parabens, colourants and phthalates. In case you were wondering, parabens and colourants can cause cancer, while phthalates are known to affect reproductive systems in mice and humans.

The Bath & Shower Gel in Melon comes only in one size. If you aren’t too keen on the fresh scent of melons, you’ll be pleased to know that there are other fruit-scented Bath & Shower Gels as well, namely peach, green apple and mango. To be honest, I picked melon partly because the packaging looked the nicest. I was also looking for something that smelled fresh in the shower without being too over-the-top. To cut to the chase, the melon didn’t disappoint.
As a product made without harmful ingredients, the Bath & Shower Gel in Melon makes cleansing a relaxing activity after a hard day at work. It cleanses sufficiently well without stripping the skin of essential oils. This means no squeaky-clean feeling, and no flaky skin after several washes. The scent isn’t overwhelming and you don’t smell much like melon after drying yourself either.
The product contains vitamin E, which is an essential compound to have if you want to repair your skin from free radical damage. A common complaint about vitamin E is that it can be quite oily or leave behind a sticky feel when applied. However, the Bath & Shower Gel in Melon gives no such effect, which is a plus point indeed, especially for a humid climate such as Singapore’s.

You can find Naturalium at selected Guardian, Sasa and departmental stores in Singapore. At the moment, it retails at S$9.90 till June 2015, after which it will be priced at S$12.90.
