I never thought I was cut out for a classic 9-5. It’s not that a 9-5 is bad, or any less than something that is not. A 9-5 is not only much more stable than being on your own, it also provides you with insurance and a circle of trust that you can count on when you’re faced with difficulties on the job.
Ever since I was still a student, all jobs I’d ever done were 9-5 office or lab jobs (except, of course, when I was teaching in college). And I never saw myself lasting in any of them for longer than I had stayed. The predictability killed me a little bit inside every day.
OK I may be exaggerating a little. But if you’ve always wanted to strike out on your own, you’d probably know how I felt. And I want to let you know that I completely understand you.
When I started The Skinny Scout for the very first time (you can read my story here), I always knew it had to be something about helping women everywhere be better versions of themselves. Nobody likes evil scheming villains (the Disney ones don’t count) and the key to not being one lies within each and every one of us. Founding Trouvée.Co was a dream come true for me, and I want to take this company a step further to help empower women all around the world.
