Korean Makeup: Rediscovering my 3CE Eyeshadow Palette in Up Close

What do you do when you’re stuck at home and just decluttered your makeup drawer? You play with your makeup, of course!

Thanks to Alexis, I recently discovered this new phone app called “Wuta Camera – Realistic Selfie” and love it a whole lot. At first, I fell in love with the makeup and face slimming effects but I realised that I actually liked my selfies most when it took shots of me without slimming my face and with added lighting filters.

My home has the worst lighting possible, and we all know that lighting is actually the most important and biggest factor when it comes to photography. Secondly, everyone knows by now that our phones have ugly distortion, especially on the front camera. Couple that with my short hands, and you’ll know that my selfies never looked like the real me. Ugh.

The best thing about Wuta is that it gets rid of the distortion! Hurray, now we can all look like ourselves again! No wonder it’s called “realistic selfie.”

But back to today’s topic.

I had bought this 3CE eyeshadow palette in Up Close when we were in Seoul a couple of years ago. This morning, I decided to finally give the Korean makeup look a try. But since I’ve never been a fan of the look myself, I don’t have any coral eyeshadow shades, save for one thats part of a palette from The Face Shop.

Before we get into the details of my look for the day, here are some swatches from 3CE’s product website:

THE KOREAN MAKEUP LOOK

For a natural daytime look, you have to go light on the eyeshadow. Lashes should be light and airy. Brows are soft, as are the nose contours and eyeliner. Lips have a natural-looking tinge of colour, and some shine (gloss) if you like. Your skin should look healthy and naturally radiant, not caked in foundation and definitely not baked.

With that in mind, I had to rethink how I usually contour my nose. Here’s another shot of the final look, taken via the Wuta camera app, of course.

Some notes about this selfie:

  • No face slimming feature. Hun, you look good without the sharp-chin-small-face look.
  • Naturally airy lighting filter.
  • I have no foundation nor blush on, and these were not added with the app either. Work that natural flush. (Actually is toilet hot. #singlish)
  • False lashes added with the Wuta camera app, because I don’t want to waste lash glue.
  • Coloured contact lenses also added via Wuta camera app.
  • Lip gloss is Dare to Bare from Pat McGrath.

Honestly, I’m so glad that I can now take selfies without the confidence-crushing deformation. Hope you liked this post, and do follow me on IG or Facebook for more instant updates!
