Swatch & Review: OCC Lip Tar in Ophelia

by Roxanne C.

There was a time when I was young and really, really good in art. A painting I once drew got a teacher’s attention and he asked to have it put up for an exhibition. You could say it was the peak of my poster colour-on-paper endeavour. I probably haven’t had many encounters with paints since, but the OCC Lip Tar in Ophelia made me quite excited for a bit.

You see, this little tube of blue-toned Barbie pink paint is so pigmented, I can draw lips of whatever size and shape I like. It also smells rather minty, unlike real paint – or worse, Chinese calligraphy ink. The Lip Tar came, in the mail, with a tiny lip brush and a mini instruction manual in a transparent pouch. It may be a bit tricky to use for first timers, because you have to be very steady with your hands. I did make a little mess on my dressing table with this one. So yes, it totally reminds me of the time I used to paint!

Just a little fun! See how pigmented it is?

OCC Lip Tars are all vegan and cruelty-free, so animal lovers would like to get a hold of this. Only a little blob is enough to get a whole lot of colour, so one tube will last for a very long time. The Lip Tar doesn’t cause dryness and it does stay on for pretty long. You can blot away the excess after the first application, and you’ll see that much of the colour remains on the lips.

The Lip Tar also doesn’t bleed, so you don’t need a lip liner to go with it. As the dudes in Ambulance Ltd say, it does stay where it is! What do you think of this shade? Do you already own an OCC Lip Tar?
