Oh my, where do I get started? 20 brand new shades, glittery, shimmery and matte – all in a brand new, one-of-a-kind palette. The Urban Decay Vice 2 Palette is the latest eyeshadow bomb from the brand, launched in time for the holidays this year. Not only is it limited edition, each and every one of the palette is unique in the sense that the pattern on the purple-hued box is different for every palette. So if you’re one of those shoppers – like me – who tend to pick and choose the “perfect” product to take home with you every time you visit a store, this would certainly justify that.
A description of the colours from the Urban Decay website:
Smokeout: dark taupey-black satin
Prank: deep navy matte with turquoise floating pearl
Radar: metallic brown shimmer with iridescent micro-glitter
Dope: warm champagne satin
Lovesick: black matte with iridescent micro-glitter
Madness: bright metallic blue shimmer with blue micro-glitter
Damaged: bright metallic emerald shimmer
Toxic: metallic copper-pink shimmer with tonal micro-glitter
Shellshock: bright metallic silver
Strike: antique gold shimmer with silver micro-glitter
Voodoo: metallic purple shimmer with iridescent purple micro-glitter
Habit: light nude matte
Coax: medium metallic pink with golden iridescent micro-sparkle
Stash: deep olive green shimmer with iridescent micro-sparkle
Betrayal: bright purple satin with blue shift
Ambush: metallic brown satin
X-Rated: baby pink satin (a bit chalky in my opinion)
Poison: charcoal satin with iridescent micro-sparkle
Derailed: medium metallic taupey-brown shimmer
Rewind: medium brown matte
There are many looks you can create with this palette, including something suitable for work or a purple, green or blue smokey eye for a night about town. The glitter shades – Prank, Radar, Lovesick and Poison – are a slight disappointment because the glitter fallout is just too significant. These shades definitely need a primer or application with a wet brush. Overall, the best way to wear this palette is to layer the colours over a 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil to make the colours pop!
Betrayal looks least like itself in the pan when applied. In the pan, it looks kind of blue, but when applied it’s more of a shimmery purple. Apart from that, I love most of the shades in this palette, especially Prank, Damaged, Toxic and Derailed. I also like that the highlighter shades come in both matte (Habit) and shimmer (Dope) finishes.
Inspired by the Urban Decay Vice 2 campaign, I came up with a look using a few shades from this palette.
In the campaign, the model has on the LSD 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil but since I don’t own that (yet), I used Binge instead to line the eyes. She also has on Damaged but I didn’t use that here. This is a list of the products I used:
For Face:
– Dior‘s Diorskin Forever Compact SPF 25 PA++
– ELF Cosmetic‘s Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder
– Laneige‘s Love in Bloom Sculpting Blusher
– Bobbi Brown‘s Eyeshadow in Shade 61 Saddle (for brows and contouring of the nose)
For Eyes:
– Urban Decay‘s 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil in Binge and shades Stash, Poison, Dope and Prank from the Vice 2 palette.
– false lashes from a forgotten brand
For Lips:
– Maybelline‘s Baby Lips lipbalm
– L’Oreal‘s Made for Me Intense Lipstick in 379 Sensual Rose
– Gosh Cosmetics‘ Light’N Shine Lip Glaze in 01 White
I might create a few more looks from this palette just so you can see how versatile this is! Is it worth a buy? You bet. Get it here from Look Fantastic with free global shipping (10% off with code LFNEW)!
