Paul & Joe

For some time, the Bobbi Brown Dark Brow Kit was out of stock in several of the brand’s counters in Singapore. I made trips to the outlets at Ion Shopping Mall, Robinsons and Takashimaya and although they all had the Light Brow kit, none of them had the other one I was looking for. As an Asian without dyed hair, the Light Brow Kit is definitely a no-no for me and I was surprised that the sales assistant at the Takashimaya outlet even tried to sell it to me.

Luckily for me though, the brow kits from Bobbi Brown are made up of eyeshadows that can be bought separately. I decided to get the eyeshadow in shade Saddle 61 as it is the lighter shade in the Dark Brow Kit (the darker shade in this kit is Mahogany). Here are some pictures of the compact I managed to take, as well as a swatch comparing it with my current – and ever diminishing – Paul & Joe Eyebrow Powder in 01.

A swatch comparing the darker shade in the Paul & Joe Eyebrow Powder in 01 (top) and the Bobbi Brown eyeshadow in Saddle 61 (bottom).

Comparing both powders, the Paul & Joe one is more dark than brown, while the Bobbi Brown one is more brown than dark. This is the closest shade to the Paul & Joe one that I can find and it is also more pigmented and blends more easily. Before purchasing the Bobbi Brown eyeshadow, I did check out some from Benefit but found them to be too brown (think brunette and redheads combined) no matter the tone. Though this eyeshadow may be expensive, I suppose it’s probably more value for money than the brow kit because I rarely use more than one shade for my brows anyway. It can also double up as an eyeshadow powder, so that’s killing two birds with one stone.

I’m really glad I found this little saver!

Tell me, do you use a brow powder? What brow product works best for you?
