I got a full-sized version of this lip tint from YADAH in the January 2012 Vanity Trove. I’ve tried it out a few times and I must say I like it! The first time I used it was the first time I’d ever dealt with a lip tint of any kind, and so I applied lots of the thing on my entire lips, which was a mistake, seeing that the result I’d wanted was naturally tinted lips.
After having figured out how these tints work, I realised they are really good for faking naturally coloured lips. First up, the Angel Lip Tint & Cheek Stain is made from 99.9% natural oil and contains no parabens, mineral oils, ethanol, triethanolamine and propylene glycol. The product comes in two shades, Juicy Red and Red Wine. I own the former, the colour of which is derived from tomatoes (the latter, from gromwell flowers).
The tint smells really nice! Kind of like strawberries, now that I think of it, and less of tomatoes and flowers. In the bottle, it looks pretty viscous but out of it, it’s just like any kind of liquid. Since the bottle is transparent, you can see how much of it has been used and how much is left. You’ll also notice that the applicator goes all the way to the bottom, so you’ll get to use most of the product before needing to get another one. There is a small hole at the bottleneck, which fits the circumference of the applicator nicely so that you won’t take too much product out each time.
My favourite way to wear this is just to dab it a few times in the middle of both the upper and lower lips and then smudge it using just the lips alone, making pucking sounds while at it. This way, my lips don’t get overly red and I have on just enough colour for them to look natural. Kind of like what sucking on an orange-flavoured popsicle would do – just colours focused in the centre which gradually fades towards the outer edges. Very pretty! As of now, a full-sized bottle costs S$10.90. The only downside is that the tint tastes bitter and I have to be careful about not staining my teeth while smudging it on my lips.
